On Christmas Day 1808, in a hacienda on the outskirts of the city of Quito, two revolutions, one popular, seeking the emancipation of the oppressed, and the other oligarchic, seeking independence from Spain and greater power to control the country, overlap. When these two revolts meet, celebration and chaos subvert everything.
